My Sensitive baby

Raising Hazel is a challenge , she comes with the usual package . Like all children, she has her tantrums , anger, stubborn ...in short , just another three year old. Plus , extra sensitive . 

She is a highly sensitive child. Time-outs or other disciplining simply overwhelms her. She can't stand the idea of rejection. Handling her is so much tougher than my first-born. Her rules are simple , No scolding her , no complaining about her to Grandma/ Dad , strictly no teasing allowed. Sometimes, I avoid correcting her because I can't handle another melt down and can't calm her down after a potential situation. I know I am wrong . 

I try these quick tricks with her, when am not worn out. 

1. I say 'My Hazel would never do this' 

This is powerful , works like a charm.

2. I take her to the room / bath and give her some Gyaan on the whole episode. It's a lecture that I give her , but this trick doesn't work at all times . I've had to bring her back kicking and screaming several times . 

3. Finally , there is one more quick trick . Let he dad handle . I would simply ask her Dad to handle her , which he would generally refuse it its on invitation. So, it's strictly , dump the kid on him and run !! Thats a trick that works consistently. 

Recent conquest

Am a recreational reader mostly!! I read what does not require me to think or obsess. Strictly for entertainment only, there is no knowledge gain aspect to this. Many people when they see the amount of reading I do , take it that I do something unusual or worthwhile . Let's make this clear . It's something like how the others watch TV , they gain nothing. I read books like that , purely like watching TV . 😀😄😊

What a disappointment ? 

So, in the line of my reading conquests , once again , for purely entertianment purposes only, there are two new books by Kathy Reichs. it's on lines similar to BONES, a popular TV series . I'm a law and order , crime and investigation sort of reader. However ,I think am done with Kathy Reichs series . The second book itself is too predictable , somehow bone talk doesn't interest me. Tempe is the central talk , an anthropologist discovers big cases. Like the "Major case squad" in Law and Order I suppose.

Hazelology

Am officially naming the science of understanding Hazel , Hazelology. She is a very complex child . 

She is the one who cries in the middle of the night asking why I didn't talk to her over the phone when I called earlier during the day to check on the kids. I do call home several times during the day , and one of those times, if I were to forget talking to her , I'd  better have a good explanation . 

Spats with her are never resolved then and there. She would bring it up several hours after the episode , and demand an apology . It doesn't matter whose side is wrong. An apology better be given and be done with. 

She is made to do some writing , whenever it's study time for her sister. She insists that her sheet of work be squeaky clean. A slight pencil mark or anything could lead to another whining session until the mark is wiped clean. 

She is overly obsessive about certain books. I would have read to her the same  set of books over a thousand times , and she shows no signs of changing her favourite set. Well , we are fast asleep even before we reach the third page , that's another story altogether. 

While am writing this , she is asking me this. "Ma, I will be a doctor one day(that's from her Grandma) where will my place be ? " . Nope,I understood nothing. 

She explains again "when I become big , I'll be a doctor. I'll need a place to see all the people . Where will that place be? " Yep, she is asking me for a Clinic . I don't have an answer , and she isn't going to let me sleep without the place. God save me tonight.

Nephy called me from school

Today , about half an hour , I was making notes on my day's work and the phone rings. It's a number that my phone doesn't recognize . I pick the call and I hear a lot of background noise. I hear a voice "Mummy". I say "Nephy", "what is it dear " . Although , It was plain panic , and I wanted to say "Are you alright?". 

She says "Mummy" . I panic , and ask again "what is it da ", 

she says , "Can you pick me up at 1:30 , no PAL lessons today " . 

I smile , and I say : okay, sure, how did you know my number ? 

She says : I know your number , Bye Mummy

I say : bye dear 

She says : Bye Mummy

I say : Bye da 

She says : Bye Mummy , you should disconnect the call 

I say : you disconnect 

She says : you Mummy 

I say : okay da , bye 

I disconnect !! 

Something Magical in that call , love you my dear little one , you are growing big!! 

Miss my babies !!

My two lovely brats left with my mom for a short holiday. I was expecting one of them to call the very next day and beg me to come and pick them up . Well , I swallow my pride and they never called. Even more of a blow , they refused to talk  to me because they were busy with their cousins !! Sigh!!

Another two days my dears , and mommy monster will be back to bother you two !! Can't wait to hold my brats again !! 

Husband and I have talked and talked over and over about what the two of you say and react whenever things happen ... 

Hazel , when she is upset , will yell at me until I pick her up and cuddle ... Her tirade goes like this ..

You are a bad mummy 

Am not friends with you 

You'll have no friends at all 

You are so rude 

I'll never talk with you ever again 

I'll never play with you fever again

Ha ha ha ....

Nephy , when upset , rolls her eyes and grunts !! Aaargh!!

I have to remind her time and again that she is human and not a monkey .

Hazel demands I say sorry whenever I get upset. She says 

"Sorry sollu"

" Happy-a sorry sollu " 

"Sirichutte sorry sollu " 

Nephy comes home from School with so many stories, each day is an entertainment
