Trouble sleeping

Am entering a new phase . While I usually never have any trouble falling asleep on normal nights, am finding it challenging on days when work is stressful 

It's that feeling when you are bone tired , you doze off , only to be woken up because your body wouldn't stop twitching. It's happening to me . This job on days when I have to work late , is giving me these twitches . For no reason , I stretch my arms and my legs in the dozing off stage , and my body just keeps doing this over and over 

I watched Kabali

I watched Kabali movie last Friday. I went for the 10:30 pm show with my friend and her son. Since the movie was rated NC 16 in Singapore , I couldn't take the kids. 

From the reviews , I knew it wasn't a typical Rajini movie with all its usual non-sense. I wanted to see the man do a role which has some acting scope . After seeing the latest teasers making the rounds , I thought it might be worth a watch. 

Pleasant surprise , the movie was in fact quite good until the last half hour. The movie had a nice story line of a old-Don looking for his long lost wife and child , whom he presumed dead . The emotions of the characters and the acting were quite real, the ladies in the movie were true super stars , flawless acting. The mother-daughter duo were splendid. 

I must say this about Rajini. He had acted so nicely and powerfully in some of the scenes. Very appropriate for his age , and what a romantic hero at that age. The style /swag quotient were limited , and just where it was needed. I  loved watching Rajini on-screen. 

I loved the whole movie, the strong message . I was oblivious to the gangster and drug culture in Malaysia , and the inequality that they are subjected to. If it were  indeed true (which I did some some reading / research after wards , seemed to be mostly true) my heart goes out to the Tamil Malaysian people. 

Now for the bad/worst part of the movie , the last half hour. The movie should have ended , right after the song Maya-Nadi. After that, it was  pure torture. I just couldn't stay in my seat to put myself to watch through that torturous non sense. Which idiot actually thought of such an utterly stupid screenplay. It left such a bad taste on me , I had wished time and again that I had the good sense to leave the theatre after that song. Needless violence , utter stupidity in the last half hour. The last half hour really spoiled the entire experience for me. 

Barring this, I think it's a wonderful movie . 

A Saturday affair

Nephy's ballet class is on Saturday.  I usually leave this job to my husband , what a joy it is to ferry your kids to and fro ! ( that was supposed to be sarcastic, not my cup of tea) 

this Saturday I had to , to add a fun element to this otherwise boring chore, I usually offer Nephy a chance to have a quick bite . Her choice is always Awfully Chocolate , a dessert cafe . Her choice is always the super stacked chocolate cake. 

Today too, my darling and I had some quiet time without the hubby and the little one to bother us . 

A phenomenon called Rajinikanth

If you are a Tamilian born in 80s or earlier , then you have a heart that resounds with the entire Tamil population covering India, SriLanka, Malaysia, Singapore and various other nations. Yes, it's that one more day of heightened celebration and excitement welcoming the super star's next movie. 

I care not much for the movie , but I care much about the celebration that each of his movie offers. 

In Singapore , the movie was released in Rex cinemas and Cathay theatres. Both these cinemas' online booking suffered much because of the Tamilians constantly hounding the sites , all trying to get that First day First Show ticket , which has turned out to be quite a Status Symbol. My Facebook stands proof of all the Tamilians proudly displaying their tickets to watch Kabali. 

The walls in my home might be secretly humming "Neruppu da" for all the innumerous times they were subjected to hearing that teaser that my husband ran over the past month or so 

He watched the movie , first day first show , technically it's first day second show ;) 

Finally, the celebration comes to an end. The celebration ends once the movie is on the theatres.

Can your child write yet ?

My child Hazel turned 4 recently . I do not make her write alphabets at home , she chooses her own things to do. I let her be. 

I met her friend's mom in the bus. She asked me if Hazel can write. I said I do not make her read or write alphabets at home , so if she knows to write then it's her school that has done its job. She can read about all the capital and small , she can write the capital letters, small letters she is yet to catch up. 

Comes the reply from the friend's mom, "oh really ? My child can read and write all capital letters and small letters from age 3" 

Wow! Wow! Another mom who thinks she has done a better job than me ! Kudos ! Have a nice day !!

Good for life !!

I met a colleague on my way to office . She was very excited about having Good in her mobile. She excitedly told me that she now checks all her mails on her way to office , while in the bus. I smiled and left. 

Oh my God , that's when realization struck. I check my mails before I go to bed and as soon as I wake up in the morning . Hmm, going back to the old me, will only end in a disaster. Time to rethink and reprioritise.
